CDM & CONSTRUCTION SAFETY

The CDM regulations continue to be the main set of regulations for managing the health, safety and welfare of construction workers. CDM applies to all building and construction work and includes new build, demolition, refurbishment, extensions, conversions, repair and maintenance.

The regulations place greater emphasis on the planning of health and safety (rather than leaving issues to be discovered on site). There is an onus on those who procure such ‘works’ (Clients) to be familiar with their obligations.

One of the key roles is the Principal Designer (PD) who has responsibility to manage and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase. Many designers are requesting external advice to assist them with their PD duties, and 80:20 Risk Management are able to support designers in this way.

Similarly, we also provide key preparation and monitoring assistance to Principal Contractors (PCs) and Contractors, who may not have the  availability of an in-house resource, as well as on site monitoring during the construction phase.

We also carry out regular audits for our clients whether they are Developer/Construction Clients who wish to ensure that their appointed PC, contractors and designers continue to manage safety through safe design and construction or contractor clients that want to check that their teams are operating in a safe manner and not putting themselves or others at risk.

Watch our CDM 2015 overview video presentation below, please feel free to discuss your requirements with us.
